Ibom Air’s first brand new Airbus A220-300 touches down in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Ibom Airlines Limited, owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government, welcomed its first brand new Airbus A220-300 to Uyo, the airline’s home base.

The aircraft, whose transfer of title was done in Mirabel, Canada on the 24th of November 2023, made its journey from Mirabel via Toulouse, France to Abuja, and finally into Uyo at exactly 11:10 am today.

In attendance at the grand reception for the brand-new Airbus was His Excellency the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Bassey Eno, accompanied by the First Lady, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, the Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi and other State executives.

Also in attendance were Executives of the Airline led by the Chairman, Pastor Imoabasi Jacob, CEO, Mr Mfon Udom, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. George Uriesi, Chief Finance Officer, Mr Ofonmbuk Akpan; as well as Board Members, Management and Staff of Ibom Air. Mr. Asuquo Ita, Zonal Head for Zenith Bank, led a team of Zenith Bank management to the event.

The Chairman of Ibom Air, Pastor Imoabasi Jacob, welcomed His Excellency and guests to the event.

In his remarks, the CEO of Ibom Air, Mr. Mfon Udom, appreciated the strong support of the shareholder, the government of Akwa Ibom State. He also expressed delight at the participation of Nigerian banks in the financing of Ibom Air’s fleet, including Zenith, Fidelity, and Union banks. This particular Aircraft was financed mainly by Zenith Bank.

The Governor, in his address, acknowledged the contributions of his predecessors in bringing aviation development to Akwa Ibom State. He reiterated his strong support for Ibom Air and applauded the management for a job well done.
